NASHVILLE, TN — It turns out that the secret to those Nashville high notes might just be high-quality H2O!
A new study released today by Custom Water reveals a surprising trend in the lifestyle habits of American music fans. After surveying 1,497 respondents across the United States to track their daily beverage consumption, the data is clear:
Country music listeners are the most hydrated fans in the nation.
Danielle Mason, CEO of Custom Water, believes this reflects a broader trend in the community's values.
"We’ve always known that Country music fans are the backbone of this country—they work hard and they play hard," says Danielle Mason, CEO of Custom Water. "This data proves they’re also the smartest when it comes to their health. Whether they’re out on a tractor or in the front row of a stadium tour, Country listeners are keeping a bottle of water close by. At Custom Water, we’re proud to see this community setting a high-water mark for the rest of the country."
The Hydration Breakdown: By the Numbers
The survey monitored the daily intake of 8oz glasses of plain water across various music genre preferences. While the average American struggles to meet basic hydration goals, Country fans are leading the charge, consuming an average of 8.4 glasses of water per day. Not only does this put Country fans nearly 22% ahead of Pop listeners, but it puts them 52.7% above the national average for daily water consumption.
| Genre / Category | Avg. Daily Glasses of Water | % Difference (How much more Country fans drink) |
| Country Music Fans | 8.4 | -- |
| Pop Music Fans | 6.9 | +21.7% |
| Rock Music Fans | 6.5 | +29.2% |
| Rap & R&B Music Fans | 6.2 | +35.5% |
| National Average | 5.5 | +52.7% |
| EDM Music Fans | 5.15 | +63.1% |
Why Country Fans are Leading the Pack
While the data didn't pinpoint a single reason for the "hydration gap," however, the Country lifestyle plays a major role. Between outdoor festivals, active "blue-collar" workdays, and the heat of the American South and Midwest, Country fans are simply more dialed into their body's needs. On the other hand, EDM fans are well known to drink lots of water at concerts but don't seem to report going above and beyond during their day to day life.
More Than Just a Statistic
The significant lead over other genres is more than just a fun fact for radio trivia—it’s a testament to the "work-hard, hydrate-hard" mentality found in Country culture. As summer festival season approaches, the gap is only expected to widen as fans head to outdoor venues like Stagecoach and CMA Fest. So, the next time you hear a song about "Watermelon Moonshine" or "Cold Beer," remember that for every other beverage, Country fans are likely chasing it with a tall glass of water.
